If you forget to raise the screens in the morning, you forgo the solar heat gain when the sun comes up a big disadvantage. This is, as i mentioned, my personal experience with both systems in residential housing (my own flat). Most people don't want to go to the trouble of adjusting their window screens every time the sun goes down. and with screens, the need to clean windows doesn't diminish noticeably. with tinted windows, there's no additional moving parts, no additional power consumption (although that is probably negligible). it's not really something important, but i prefer to see whats going on outside over seeing some grey screen.ģ. for the screens to be effective, the window needs to be covered completely, or at least as far as there is direct sunlight. this is for residential use, i have to add.Ģ. The 90 may noticeably darken the rooms and outward visibility may not be.

The 90 solar screens do block more glare and provides better daytime privacy. This is the highest rated solar screens in terms of heat blockage. They look similar to regular insect screens but provide more efficiency benefits. Textilene 90 Solar Screens are designed to block up to 90 of the sun's heat. They can be installed on the interior or exterior as roller shades or fixed panels, and they typically allow for a view out the window and light transmission. i can't give any numbers (i never measured the difference) but it's cooler with tinted windows. Solar screens can reduce solar heat gain, UV damage, and glare. If that is so, i would - out of personal experience - strongly advise to go for the tinted window.

I'm assuming that screens mean some contraption outside the window with a bit of free space between window and screen and tinting means applying a coating on the window's glass (i'm no native english speaker.)
